According to PTA’s fresh data released the percentage growth of Zong users during the financial year 2010-11 was 100 % more as compared to the growth of fiscal year 2009-2010.
Details showed that additional 9.7 million connections were sold despite the strong regulatory measures of PTA and hard competition among the local telecom operators. The number of users in Pakistan has reached 108.8 million by June 2011 whereas this was 99.185 million in June 2010. Therefore the tele-density witnessed a 5 % growth and it has risen to 65.4 %.
Zong has emerged as the star performer of the fiscal session 2010-11 as it got 4.22 million new users. The present percentage of its users has reached 10.9 million. Telenor is next to Zong and it added 2.86 million new subscribers while raising its user base to 26.6 million.
Mobilink has again maintained its market leader rank during the financial year 2010-11. The base of Mobilink users reached 33.3 million and it contained 1.17 million new users to its base. Ufone and Warid separately brought 0.976 million and 0.456 million new users. Presently, their customers are 20.5 million and 17.3 million.
